NCDN IT SUPPORT PROJECT
How we can help
Do you need ICT maintenance support, or customised/personalised one to one training?
Do you need support in identifying sustainable solutions to the problem of IT support and development?
Do you wish to find out more about how other providers can support you with flexible and tailored IT training?
- ICT Mapping & Gapping
We are undertaking an audit of current ICT related activities and support to identify needs and gaps in provision to inform our strategies and funding applications. Helping us to identify your needs, you could directly benefit from our future services. Simply click on the word questionnaire to download a copy of the form and return to us. We will contact you to discuss any immediate needs and see how we can support you.
ICT Strategy
Andrew Samuel the Regional ICT Champion based at VONNE is drafting a strategy that will focus his work and that of the Sub Regional Champions in 2010 / 11. In brief the proposed priorities are:
Making the most of Social Media
In order that ……support providers will be able to adapt or to adopt social media principles and practices to enhance how they listen and communicate with their supporters.
Improving access to quality ICT information and resources
In order that……. all local support providers will have a clear route to find straightforward advice about how they can use their own ICT more efficiently and be more effective in delivery of their core services to others.
Building sustainable ICT support providers
By identifying and improving sustainability of ICT infrastructure service providers, local support organisations will have access to a range of relevant ICT services.
The reports supporting these priorities are attached. Regional Champions Workplan Activities and ICT Strategy for VCS in North East.
The latter two issues are fairly straightforward; the first (social media) is more complex. So that we can develop this priority futher, could you let us know if you use social media in your work (Facebook, Twitter, BeBo,) or anything like it. If you do not use these media could you let us know if you are planning to or would use these media if you understood more about them.
Could you let us know as soon as possible please.
Thanks

ICT Strategy for tackling exclusion
We have worked in partnership with Milecastle Housing Association to deliver support and training for internet access in sheltered housing complexes. We are also operating a pilot project with the ICT Hub providing low cost internet access in public areas in rurally excluded communities. Systems that need low support and internet based solutions will play an integral part in tackling the social, financial and educational exclusions that rural areas face in Northumberland.
Are you a rural or excluded community who requires IT support and not currently supported by other initiatives?
Do you wish to support us in developing initiatives which can harness new technologies to support the voluntary/community sector and excluded groups?
Partnership Working
We are working with the national ICT hub to pilot new initiatives and will be working with the BASIS funded organisations to provide a holistic package of support and development that through partnership reached excluded groups more effectively.
Do you wish to support us in developing initiatives to reduce the amount of technical support required?
Do you wish to support us in the development of costed packages which can be purchased by organisations who can afford it?
